A wife in labour, a hospital at the ready ...and a vehicle that won’t move
It's everyone's nightmare, and occasionally someone's reality. One night it appeared that Mr Cassidy was going to be one of the unlucky ones…
Mrs Cassidy was heavily pregnant, and the signs were that the newest Cassidy was ready to make an appearance. The bags were packed and Mr Cassidy had made sure there was enough petrol in the car for the drive to the hospital 'I wouldn't say I was calm, but I did feel as though everything was under control. Until the car broke down, that is.'
And that's the nightmare. A wife in labour, a hospital at the ready and a vehicle that won't move.
'Fortunately, we'd bought breakdown cover along with our car insurance and a phone call to Europ Assistance was the only thing I had to do. The recovery truck arrived in just 15 minutes - but my wife was in labour by that time! We quickly decided that an ambulance was the best idea and the mechanic made the call.'
While the Cassidys shot off to hospital, Europ Assistance sorted out the tow, overnight storage and repair of the car. They even delivered it back to Mr Cassidy.
After the hiccup with the vehicle, everything else went according to plan and the Cassidys were delighted with their new arrival shortly after arriving at the hospital. 'At the time, of course, I couldn't care whether I ever saw the car again or not - I just wanted to get my wife to hospital - but looking back I was absolutely delighted with the level of service we received.'
